Check Aadhaar Update Status: URN, SRN & Enrolment ID
After any Aadhaar update — address, mobile, name, biometrics — or a new enrolment, you can track exactly where your request stands on the myAadhaar portal. All you need is the reference number from your acknowledgement slip.
Which reference number do you have?
| Number | Length | Given for |
|---|---|---|
| URN (Update Request Number) | 14 digits | Demographic/biometric updates (online or at centre) |
| SRN (Service Request Number) | 28 digits | Aadhaar PVC card orders |
| EID (Enrolment ID) | 28 digits (with date-time) | New Aadhaar enrolment (on the acknowledgement slip) |
How to check status — step by step
Open the status page
Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in → “Check Enrolment / Update Status”.
Enter your reference number
Enter your URN, SRN, or EID (with the date-time stamp for EID) plus the captcha, and submit.
Verify with OTP (for updates)
For update-status checks, an OTP goes to your registered mobile number — enter it to view the detailed status.
Read the status
The portal shows the current stage of your request (see meanings below).
What the status messages mean
- Under process / In progress: UIDAI is verifying your request. Normal — wait and check again after a few days.
- Approved / Completed: the update is done. Download your updated e-Aadhaar to confirm.
- Rejected: the request failed verification — most often a blurry document, name mismatch, or invalid proof. Fix the issue and submit a fresh request.
- On hold / additional documents: UIDAI needs something more — follow the instructions shown on the portal.
If your update was rejected
Don't panic — rejection is common and re-applying is free apart from the standard fee. Check the reason shown: re-upload a clear, complete scan, make sure the name spelling matches your Aadhaar exactly, and use a currently valid document. For address updates, see the document checklist.
Frequently asked questions
On myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in, open “Check Enrolment / Update Status”, enter your URN (updates), SRN (PVC orders), or EID (new enrolment), complete the captcha/OTP, and view the current stage.
URN (14 digits) tracks demographic or biometric update requests. SRN (28 digits) tracks Aadhaar PVC card orders. EID (28 digits with date-time) tracks a new Aadhaar enrolment.
Typically a few days to a few weeks depending on the update type and verification load. Mobile number updates can take up to 15–30 days. Track with your URN rather than guessing.
Read the rejection reason on the portal, fix it (usually a clearer document scan, exact name match, or a valid proof), and submit a fresh request.
The detailed update status needs an OTP on the registered number. If you have lost access to it, update your mobile number first, then track.
